The Girl With The Pink Bicycle Tattoo

Me in my swim to bike transition. T1 at its finest form!

After a 15-year hiatus of no helmet hair and pain-free girl parts I’ve decided it’s time to get back on the saddle and ride again.  I’ve been tossing around the idea of buying a bike for more than 6 months and ever since I started running I’ve had a vision of one day doing a triathlon and well, we all know, there’s no way of doing that without a bike.

I started looking at bikes in the fall of last year, did plenty of research and had some great advice from friends in the running/cycling community.   I narrowed my choices down to Continue reading

You Want Me To Flex What?!?

Every Sunday Night

Entering into my 4th week of physio with my new, totally awesome physiotherapist Katie, I had to ask the question “you want me to flex what?”.  Katie laughed and replied, “you know, like Kegels”.  Cue awkward pause followed by awkward laughs.  My response to her  ”is this some sort of punishment for making obnoxious Kegel jokes last night?”.  Nope, in fact Continue reading

PUNK’d Up Kicks

As the year begins to wind down I’ve been taking a little time to reflect back on this past year.  I’ve ran some really fun and challenging races, traveled to some cool places and met some incredible people along the way.  Ron from Punk Rock Racing is a great example of one of those people that I’ve been lucky enough to cross paths with this year. Not only does he write one of my favorite running blogs, he’s also a HUGE inspiration to me (he finished an Ironman with a destroyed knee!!!). On top of all that he’s also been incredibly generous to me and I wanted to share with you guys some of the awesome goodies I’ve received from Punk Rock Racing! Continue reading

REVIEW: 2011 Amica Seattle Half Marathon

Date Of Event: November 27, 2011

Price: $70

Seattle is one of my favorite cities, not only is it incredibly beautiful but it’s also where some of my very best friends live; so how could I pass up an opportunity to run a half marathon in said city, with said friends?!

I registered for the Amica Seattle Half Marathon shortly after finishing the Vancouver BMO half in May.  At that time, I was feeling great, in the best shape I’ve been in in a long time and ready to conquer the world. But as you all know, Continue reading

Ankle Update!

First off, a big ol’ apology for being so out of the loop lately.  My ankle injury has really taken it’s toll on me and honestly it’s made staying motivated a real challenge. But enough of the boo-hooing, let’s get down to business!

So, a very loooong 14 weeks ago I made one silly little misstep *doh* while trail running that has now resulted in me being out of the game nearly 3 months! *ugh* During the time that I’ve been injured it’s definitely been an uphill battle, I’ve been in constant pain, my ankle puffs up like a blowfish from time to time, and some days it’s a struggle just to Continue reading

Lululemon Haul

It’s been a while since I really updated my running/workout wardrobe so I decided to treat myself to a few new items. As you may have seen already, I got myself a sexy new pair of Newton’s as well as a hot-pink pair of CEP compression socks, which by the way, I’m absolutely LOVING! I also recently did some retail therapy at my local Lululemon store and picked up a few pieces that I thought I’d share with you all.  Below you’ll find photos of my new goodies along with a brief description and in the coming weeks I’ll be posting reviews on the Lululemon products, the shoes and the compression socks, so keep your eyes peeled for that!

Flow Y Bra IV – $42.00 –  Size 2: I already own this exact bra in a different color, but it was time to update! I love this particular style because the slim straps and racer back allows for a lot of movement without any restriction, and the back also has a Continue reading

REVIEW: 2011 San Francisco 1st Half Marathon

Date Of Event: July 31, 2011

Ever since I started to really run, the San Francisco Marathon was a clear choice for me. It’s no secret, San Francisco is by far one of my all time favorite cities and to have the privilege to run it was just something I had to take advantage of.  A couple months back, just after the Vancouver BMO half I was feeling pretty good so I decided to sign up for the SF First Half Marathon.  I knew I had my work cut out for me since Continue reading
