REVIEW: Jurek Essential

UDLogoProduct: Jurek Essential by Ultimate Direction

Cost: $29.95 USD

I’ll be honest, I was a little hesitant to try out the Jurek Essential for the simple fact that I hung up my cumbersome waist belt a couple of years ago and made the decision that waist packs weren’t for me.  I’m beyond happy that I stepped out of my comfort zone to buckle this beauty of a waist pack on!  This light-weight pack is everything you need in a waist pack, it has 2 larger pockets on the back, one of which is Continue reading

I’m no stranger to Newton Running shoes, in fact I’ve been running in these bright little beauties for a number of years now, and have more Newtons in my shoe closet than I do high heels.  When they announced that they were releasing the Energy NR’s, I was stoked to get my feet in them and put them to the test! Some of you know that I absolutely love using the Strava online and mobile app to keep track of my runs and rides.  If you’re unfamiliar with Strava, it’s a great online fitness social network for endurance sports enthusiasts.  You can track your runs/rides with an app on your iPhone or Android, alternatively you can do what I do and use your GPS watch and then upload your data to the Strava website.  My inner nerd loves geeking Continue reading

‘Tis The Season…

photo 4…For fall running and I couldn’t be happier!  Don’t get me wrong, I love me some hot and sweaty, super gritty, blazing heat on the trails, but there’s something so special about being out on the trails or pounding the pavement during fall.  The air is crisp and cool, there’s that wonderful smell of autumn in the air that gives me a nostalgic feeling and let’s not forget about the beauty of fall, the bright yellow, orange and red leaves make an amazing backdrop to a run!  If you want to know a few of my favorite things about fall running, keep reading! :) Continue reading

REVIEW: CamelBak ARC Quick Grip Handheld Water Bottle

Screen Shot 2013-08-30 at 1.30.24 PMProduct: CamelBak ARC Quick Grip Handheld Bottle

Cost: $20.00 USD

I’m no stranger to the CamelBak product family, so I was thrilled to be able to review this little number!  So let’s get down to the specs first: The ARC Quick Grip is composed of a contoured 10 oz., BPA-free, Podium Arc bottle and a light weight strap which has a velcro-secure pocket and a small stash pocket as well.  The bottle has a patent no-bite, Jet Valve, which is meant to make it easier to get a drink of water with an easy squeeze (more on this later) as well as a twist lockout feature, making this little baby leak proof. And it weighs in at a mere 0.35 oz, this includes the pack plus reservoir, super light! Continue reading

REVIEW: Vega One Starter Kit

The Goods!

Product: Vega One Starter Kit

Cost: $14.99

I had the pleasure of trying out the Vega One 5-day Starter Kit which comes with 5 packets of Vega’s all-in-one nutritional shakes, 2 Vanilla, 2 Chocolate and 1 Berry.  If you are unfamiliar with Vega, they are an amazing plant-based nutritional company formulated by former pro Ironman Brendan Brazier.  I have sampled a spattering of their sports line before, but this is the first chance I’ve had to test out their yummy Vega One line!  The 5 day Starter Kit is an excellent way for people who are wanting to get into the plant-based nutrition world, but don’t want to commit to buying a big tub of it right off the bat.  Another bonus of getting the starter kit is that you get to try out 3 Continue reading
