After a 15-year hiatus of no helmet hair and pain-free girl parts I’ve decided it’s time to get back on the saddle and ride again.  I’ve been tossing around the idea of buying a bike for more than 6 months and ever since I started running I’ve had a vision of one day doing a triathlon and well, we all know, there’s no way of doing that without a bike.

PUNK’d Up Kicks

As the year begins to wind down I’ve been taking a little time to reflect back on this past year.  I’ve ran some really fun and challenging races, traveled to some cool places and met some incredible people along the way.  Ron from Punk Rock Racing is a great example of one of those people that I’ve been lucky enough to cross paths with this year. Not only does he write one of my favorite running blogs, he’s also a HUGE inspiration to me (he finished an Ironman with a destroyed knee!!!). It’s Just Like Riding A Bike…

Cycling is something that I’ve been really wanting to get into over the past few years, I don’t know if it’s the investment of a bike that’s been holding me back or just simply the free time to get out and do it.  Either way, I finally got my little booty on a speedy Cannondale and hit the road this past weekend!

Now, before any of you use your “jump to conclusions” mat, no, I did not go and drop a couple G’s on a bike (not yet anyways), I’m lucky enough to have some cyclists in my family. My brother, who is one of the biggest bike nerds I know, owns a couple sweet bikes and his wife who also cycles, and who conveniently is also about my size, was kind enough to lend me her Cannondale for the day.
