REVIEW: 2011 San Francisco 1st Half Marathon

Date Of Event: July 31, 2011

Price: $105.00

Ever since I started to really run, the San Francisco Marathon was a clear choice for me. It’s no secret, San Francisco is by far one of my all time favorite cities and to have the privilege to run it was just something I had to take advantage of.  A couple months back, just after the Vancouver BMO half I was feeling pretty good so I decided to sign up for the SF First Half Marathon.  I knew I had my work cut out for me since Continue reading

I’ll Show You Mine: BMO Vancouver Marathon Edition

head to toe

One of the most common questions I get asked is what do I wear when I run. So I’m going to give you the run down on what I wore head to toe for the BMO Vancouver Half Marathon this past Sunday. Running attire is an incredibly personal thing, what works for me may not work for you and sometimes it’s a game of hit or miss, fingers crossed that those “misses” occur during a relatively short run during training and not in the middle a half marathon. REVIEW: 2011 BMO Vancouver Half Marathon

Date of Event: May 1, 2011

Price: $72.80

After agonizing over my poor performance during the Malibu half in November I eagerly looked for a race to sign up for to turn my running frown upside down.  I’ve yet to do a local race, so signing up for the Vancouver BMO half Marathon was a logical choice for me, it was on my home turf, not only would I have the support of family and friends, I’d also get to run with some of them and it allowed me to have 5+ months of training/prep time to get my booty back in gear. So sign up I did!

lucky number 6406

A few days prior to the race I had 3 of my best friends in the world come stay with me, 2 of which were also running the half marathon (their first ever) and the other running the full marathon (show off ;) ).  In an attempt to beat the crowds, the Friday prior to the race we went down to the running Expo to pick up our racing packets/bibs and to meander around the booths.  I don’t know if it’s just me Continue reading

Floating On Cloud 9

Out & Back 10 Miler

I don’t know how I did it, but somehow I managed an average pace of 9:29 min/mile today on my 10 mile run, taking off an average of 35 seconds/mile from last weeks 10 mile run! I know those numbers don’t seem like a lot, but to me they are HUGE!  Am I elated about this? HELL YES I am! Am I shocked? Yup. Am I hoping this is the beginning of something good? Absolutely!

My morning got off to a sloth-like, sluggish Continue reading

Hanging Up My Heels

shoes

time to take it down a few inches

As much as it pains me (emotionally, not literally) it’s that time again…yes, it’s time to put away all my pretty, sexy high heels and stilettos and pull out all my flats (aka boring shoes).

As you girls know, frequent wearing of those leg-elongating, slimming, flirty shoes have some negative long-term effects on our bodies. These include the shortening of our Achilles tendons which results in Achilles tendonitis and the formation of bunions. Lucky, lucky me, I have a little of both…booo! Continue reading

8 Mile: Hot For Running

After much over-indulgence (wine, dancing, beer, wine, wine, wine) and little sleep this weekend the sound of my alarm going off early this morning to signify that it was time to wake up to go for my 8 mile run was less than welcome to say the least. *queue grumbling and moaning*

Since my surgery, I’ve been on a pretty ambitious training schedule, running smaller runs Tuesday through Saturday with my long run taking place every Sunday. Today, sleep or no sleep, was no exception. Continue reading
