Product: Vega One Starter Kit

Cost: $14.99

I had the pleasure of trying out the Vega One 5-day Starter Kit which comes with 5 packets of Vega’s all-in-one nutritional shakes, 2 Vanilla, 2 Chocolate and 1 Berry.  If you are unfamiliar with Vega, they are an amazing plant-based nutritional company formulated by former pro Ironman Brendan Brazier.  I have sampled a spattering of their sports line before, but this is the first chance I’ve had to test out their yummy Vega One line!  The 5 day Starter Kit is an excellent way for people who are wanting to get into the plant-based nutrition world, but don’t want to commit to buying a big tub of it right off the bat.  Another bonus of getting the starter kit is that you get to try out 3 different flavors, so you can find your favorite!

vegaoneLet’s get to the specs.  Vega One has absolutely no preservatives, no added sugar, artificial flavors or colors and is only 145 calories per serving and is also gluten-free.  Each packet (or scoop) contains 15g protein (pea protein, SaviSeed, sprouted whole grain brown rice, hemp seed), 1.5g Omega-3’s (white chia, flax seed, hemp), 2.7 cups antioxidants, 6g fiber, 1.8 cups greens, 1 billion probiotics and 50% of your recommended daily intake of vitamins and minerals.  It’s available in chocolate, berry, natural, vanilla chai and my favorite french vanilla.  You can mix it with water or non-dairy milk if you want, or do what I do and kickstart your morning off with a yummy Vega One smoothie, recipe will be listed below.

So yummy!
So yummy!

So what’s my verdict?  I’m a HUGE fan!  I love the taste of all 3 flavors that I tried, the vanilla was my favorite based on the fact that it’s the most versatile of the three, you can easily mix it into your favorite current smoothie.  For me, this is an excellent way to start off your day and get in all those essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals before you even head out the door, talk about getting a head start on your health!  As a vegetarian, who’s always looking for more protein, I’m loving that these are plant-based proteins, coming from the best sources, pea, SaviSeed, sprouted whole grain brown rice and hemp seed, rather than soy or whey.  I recommend giving Vega One a try, and this 5-day starter pack is the perfect way to dip your toes into the plant-based nutrition world.

Have you guys tried Vega products before?  If so, what’s your favorite flavor?

    1. I agree that it’s a little on the pricey side and that’s why I docked it points on my cost scale. I wish it was a little cheaper, however, I don’t mind paying the little extra for a top-notch product like Vega. I’ll have to check out the Lifetime Basics brand. Thanks for stopping by for a read!
