Let’s Talk About Skin, Baby (Linacare GIVEAWAY)

Me vs. Chlorine
Me vs. Chlorine

Sunburn, windburn, dry, chapped, chlorine-damaged skin are just a few issues us runners, cyclists and swimmers suffer from.  We put our bodies through the ringer with vigorous training schedules in all sorts of climates and environments that wreak havoc on our skin and we sometimes forget how hard all of that is on our biggest organ!  Working in the medical/cosmetic industry and being sometimes a little *cough*vain*cough*, I learned early on how important it is to take care of my skin.  I know it may not seem as important as focusing on your muscle aches and pains, icing the ouchies and foam rolling the tight spots, but your *insert older age here*-year-old-self will thank you for taking care of your skin now!

So, what’s a runner to do?  I follow my usual skin regimen of cleansing morning, night and post-run or swim, I use a toner to balance my skins pH, I always, and I mean ALWAYS, use sunscreen, even on those dreary Vancouver days, and most importantly I MOISTURIZE!!!  So, having said all of that, I’d like to share with you guys my favorite go-to moisturizer that I’ve been using for the past 3 years:  Linacare’s Transforming Face Cream!

Linacare is a Vancouver-based company that has focused on making a few genius face and body products that are hypoallergenic, unscented, non-greasy (perfect for sweaty runners skin) and non-comedogenic, meaning it won’t clog your pores.  Linacare is perfect for all skin types including, sensitive or reactive skin.  I love slathering on the body cream if my skin is feeling particularly dry from the chlorine in the pool or when I fall victim to overexposure of the sun, for the best absorption apply your body moisturizer just after towelling off from the shower or bath.  For my face, I swear by the Transforming Face Cream, it’s helped me keep smooth, glowing, soft skin, even when I’m in the pool a few times a week and out running in the elements almost every day.  WIN!

  1. Been trying to find a decent moisturizer and skin care products since I started doing triathlons/ironman races five years ago. I’d love to try this out.

  4. Hi! My name is Hannah and I am 17. I loooooove to run cross country and I am outside all seasons and I swim as well. I have extremellllyyy sensitive and dry skin and Eczema. Running in the winter plus the pool chlorine makes it ten times worse but it is still worth it to me. I noticed your skin seems really soft and clear in your photos and would love to try whatever it is that is working for you! Thanks!

      1. I’m currently rocking the Newton Terra Momentus Purple Beauties. Loving them. Brutally cold today- nothing a Lululemon Bundlin’ Up jacket couldn’t cure. Love your blog! Happy to have come across it~ 🙂

  5. I’d love to try this! (I just came across your blog via facebook; you are beautiful!) I have extremely dry skin and the winter just makes it worse. Running causes me to itch and become blotchy. I’m curious to see what this product would be able to accomplish with my non-compliant skin!
